ELASTIC TIME is a set of 2 interactive installations, which are about experiencing time in a visually meditative way. After you push the objects down they slowly, vertically extend within 2 different time frames.

Watching the subtle changing shape of the objects, makes you focus and take a small break. The objects will give you a subjective sense of the time passing, for some people it will feel slow, for others fast.

The time will be set by the customized production of a gas spring. It’s a new way to show time by the pure process of physics. A gas spring is a type of spring that, unlike a typical metal spring, uses a compressed gas, contained in a cylinder and compressed by a piston, to exert a certain extension force.

Gas springs are usually hidden inside functional products such as office chairs and kitchen cabinets. The installations accentuates the beauty and slow movement of this  industrial component in a new poetic context.
